Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has welcomed President William Ruto’s upcoming development tour of the Mt Kenya region, noting that the visit will focus on implementing key projects and fulfilling government promises to residents.
Speaking on Thursday, March 27 while inspecting government-funded projects in Murang’a County, Kindiki assured residents that the tour is not a political engagement but a commitment to improving livelihoods through accelerated infrastructure and economic programs.
“Next week, the president will be here in Mt Kenya, not for politics, but to open markets, expand electricity connections, and inspect roads, irrigation, and other ongoing projects,” he stated.
During his visit to Murang’a, the Deputy President inspected the Gikoe ESP Market in Mathioya Constituency, which is 80 percent complete.
The facility is expected to accommodate hundreds of small-scale traders, providing them with modern amenities to enhance their businesses.

“The President has sent me to ensure these projects are completed swiftly so that wananchi can benefit. Our responsibility is to serve the people, not engage in political rhetoric. This market, for instance, will be ready in under five weeks,” said the DP.
Earlier, he also toured infrastructure projects in Tharaka-Nithi County, including the ongoing construction of the Kibugua-Itugururu-Ishiara Road.
Kindiki reiterated that Ruto remains dedicated to fulfilling his campaign pledges and that the government is committed to the timely completion of key projects across the country.
